Inpatient Services Nurse Executive

Navos Mental Health Solutions Inpatient Services provides 24-hour, 7 days per week care for persons living with mental illness who are experiencing a psychiatric crisis and need stabilization in order to reintegrate into the community. Navos Inpatient Services is the largest involuntary treatment provider in the Seattle/King County area, providing treatment to adults with serious and recurring mental illness through a recovery-based philosophy of care.  The hospital staff members take pride in being kind, caring, and going the extra mile. Position Summary: The Nurse Executive provides clinical leadership to and direct administration of Navos’s Inpatient Nursing Department.  The Nurse Executive functions as a change agent and leader for applying the recovery model of care in an acute care setting.  In addition, the Nurse Executive is responsible for managing the largest department in Inpatient Services, including responsibility for the nursing department staffing plan and the departmental budget.  This position must work cooperatively with an interdisciplinary team, including Social Services, Adjunctive Therapy, Medicine, Pharmacy, and Psychological Services. The Nurse Executive supervises two Nurse Managers, one for each of the two patient care units, and assorted contractors providing patient-care related services. This position reports to the Chief of Inpatient Services. Position available June 1, 2011.

Applicants should also be able to work cooperatively in a multidisciplinary team approach, according respect to others based on knowledge and experience as well as discipline. 

 

Education, Experience, and Certification: This position requires a Master’s degree in Nursing, at least 5 years experience in Nursing Administration and experience working in an involuntary care environment. Other experience includes: Budget preparation and evaluation, Ability to develop trust and open communication with employees and peers, Competency in managing change, Expertise in psychiatric nursing practice functioning as a role model, mentor, educator, and consultant for the nurse managers and nursing staff, Utilize research and the most current knowledge to implement evidence-base nursing practice and evidence-based management practices
